ALOVE UK are proud to present Spire - the 2010 summer school tour with special guest Manafest!
ALOVE have been on tour for the last two summers visiting loads of summer schools throughout the UK territory with the Free2be tour and then Roadtrip. We are carrying on with the idea of a summer tour this year and are going to be bringing you ‘Spire'.
It's important to be reminded that the God we serve is the God of big ideas and massive dreams.
We might be digging deeper into the theme of discipleship in 2010 but we can't be afraid to dream bigger so that we may make a deeper impact in the communities in which God has placed us. In fact it's clear throughout the history of the Church that those who walk closest and dig deepest into God often are the people who dream bigger dreams and crazier ideas.
Our inspiration for the Spire tour is found in the book of Esther. The story of Esther is one of the triumphs of God over probability, power and personal fear. Esther is the lowly Jewish girl living in exile in a foreign land, chosen from thousands to become Queen. No one knows she is in fact a Jew, but Esther passes the ultimate audition and finds herself in an incredibly privileged position. Esther then faces a terrifying dilemma: God has placed her in a position of influence where only she can save the Jewish nation from certain death. Should she go to the king and risk her secret coming to light, risk losing her privileged position, her life (facing certain death for doing so) and save her people, or should she not? In the end God uses Esther to save her people and in doing so we see just how powerful he is and just how much he can do through us when we follow him.
We wanted to take this story as an inspiration to others to dream big and reach higher. Sometimes we can feel bound by probability and human limitations. The things we dare dream of in the recesses of our minds seem so unlikely, so out of reach and frankly impossible that there seems no point even trying. Perhaps it's because we're up against powerful forces. Perhaps it's because we're just afraid that whatever we dream of doing might not work. We can give it a go but we'll look really stupid if we fail. Perhaps we're afraid that if we dream too big, people will think we're in it for ourselves and our dreams are not of God.
Spire is about realising that God can make all things possible. God can defeat any enemy no matter how powerful they appear. God is bigger than any fear.
Spire is not about mindless fantasy or filling people's heads with nonsense. It's about asking the question - what is God saying to you and where might that lead?
We hope and pray that this summer's tour will help to reach the lives of loads of people and will help inspire them to get excited about the possibility of dreaming big dreams!
