| “I’m
there when Johnny goes out for a loaf of bread for
Mama. I’m there, you’re not. I win,
you lose. It’s all about being there.”

This was the explanation
offered by a drug dealer to a local pastor in a
North American inner-city area as to why the church
was struggling to connect with young people. It
also sums up the basic ethos of NEO – NEO
is about being there. It’s about being with
young people who run the risk of exclusion from
school and society and offering hope. It’s
about being with young families as they struggle
to make ends meet and bringing joy. It’s about
being in the mayhem of estate life and finding peace.
All in all it’s about living on an estate
and partnering with God in bringing transformation
to the community.
NEO is built upon 4 distinctives
and is currently operating in 9 communities
around the United Kingdom. There are loads of ways
you can get involved either by joining
a community, praying
for the teams or supporting
financially. NEO is also committed to getting people
thinking about and
being trained in
church planting and emerging mission. |
