Fairtrade hading

Boy characterHow many times have you said the words 'that's so unfair!' in the last week? Be honest!

Everyone likes things to be fair, whether it's the way we play games or sports, or how we're treated at home or at school. But do you know that trade rules - the rules for the way people produce, sell and buy things - aren't always very fair.

World Fair Trade Day (May 9th) is the perfect day to think about the things you buy and how they are made, and to find out more about fair trade projects which are helping to change lives and make the world a fairer place.

What is Fairtrade?
Fairtrade is about doing trade in a way that is fair for everyone. When you see the Fairtrade Mark on a product, it means that farmers and workers in developing countries have been paid a fair price for their crop or produce.

Encourage your friends and family to buy fairtrade with this Fairtrade poster. Colour it in and pin it up.

The Salvation Army is a Fairtrade organisation. Its members believe that buying fairtrade food, clothes and other products is extremely important for making the world a fairer place. In fact, bringing justice, or fairness, to the world is a big part of The Salvation Army's mission.
