Community Care
The Salvation Army-Woking Community Care So What is Community Care? Community Care is the section of The Salvation Army that specifically helps those who need special assistance. From offering food to the needy, to furnishing a flat for those in desperate need, to wrapping over 400 Christmas presents and food parcels, as well as supporting the York Road Hostel and other Social Organisations. Unfortunately, we are not able to give money but we will try to assist in many other ways. The financial cost of meeting these needs comes from the giving of The Salvation Army church members and the public giving from Christmas Carolling. The Woking Community Care Team provide emergency service cover when requested by the larger Salvation Army emergency response units, such as that provided after nationwide disasters like The Kings Cross fire, or the London terrorist bombing of 2005. The team is made up of volunteers from Woking Salvation Army church members. Time is given for free so that others can be helped - its just a simple way of giving back something we have been blessed with ourselves.
